Who and What is Team Premier ?

Team Premier was founded by Dr. Stephanie Anne Timmer, co-owner and co-founder of Premier Literacy. Dr. Timmer, having dedicated much of her professional life to literacy and accessibility, wanted to find a way to raise awareness of the increasing demand for digital literacy in school and at the workplace.

Dr. Timmer, a talented software designer and the creative force behind the success of Premier Literacy, is also a popular speaker throughout Canada and the United States. Her messages of empowerment and overcoming challenges have been heard by thousands of people and are more than just words. Dr. Timmer, who lost her vision as she entered adulthood, has spent all of her adult life facing adversity and overcoming challenges. Since losing her sight, Dr. Timmer has earned two doctorate degrees; developed a comprehensive line of software solutions for people with reading and writing challenges; formed a successful assistive technology company; and has helped thousands of people reach their potential. Never one for complacency, Dr. Timmer recently began training to become the fastest blind marathon runner in the world. She has dedicated her personal life and her professional life to finding solutions and maximizing potential.

Team Premier is an extension of that dedication. In her quest to become the fastest blind marathon runner in the world, Dr. Timmer hopes to raise awareness of the increasing demand for digital literacy in school and in the work place. She hopes also to recognize those organizations whose sole purpose is to support individuals with disabilities – organizations which are often underfunded. As Dr. Timmer works to realize her goal of becoming the fastest blind marathon runner in the world, she will be running in marathons across Canada and the United States. As she “goes the distance”, Dr. Timmer invites literacy organizations to join her in bringing awareness to literacy issues - to be a part of Team Premier.

Team Premier is the result of a blind woman’s vision. It is a testament to what is possible. Team Premier is an opportunity.
